Its critical that kids are given a healthy start in life by getting sufficient physical exercise to maintain a healthy body weight and eating a diet that provides the essential nutrients their bodies need for healthy growth and development. Since heart disease develops over the course of a lifetime and begins in childhood its important that children learn to eat a heart healthy diet early in life. A diet of foods high in total fat, saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol is known to contribute to the development of heart disease.
